This is not your average mission trip.
We are currently exploring what we believe would be the most health-conscious and financially responsible outcomes for this trip in light of COVID-19.
The absolute worst case scenario results in the trip being pushed back a year and a stand in service project this year, so fear not! We value our partnership with the Kamper fam, and we intend to see them one way or another!
The FRCZ high school youth are going to San Jose in 2020!
We will be partnering with the Kamper family and the church that they are serving with! We will work HARD and participate in a summer camp with their high school youth and run the community VBS program with the church!

I (Noah) have spent about 3 workdays calling airline group booking desks in hopes of finding a flight that works for us both financially and schedule wise. Group booking allows for name changes on tickets and guarantees that we will all be on the same flights, so it's a very attractive option. Unfortunately, there is also a "tax" that they charge on group bookings. This means that my original estimate of $650 was off, as I have never done a group booking before!
After calling most major airlines and getting estimates in the thousands of dollars with flights arriving as late as 12:35am on the 5th, I was starting to lose hope. I looked at flying out of Chicago, Detroit, even Canada and nothing seemed to be both cost effective or work with our schedule. United came through for us, and matched the original base fare of $650 per person, but the taxes push that number to $793.21 a person. This is almost $150 dollars higher than I was hoping to spend per person, but I am afraid that we wont be able to find anything better. I've updated the cost information below.
Our tentative schedule is now to leave on the 4th from GRR at 6:35am and arrive in SJO at 8:25pm after a layover in Newark. We would leave SJO at 11:30am on the 13th and arrive back in GRR at 11:00pm after another long layover in Newark. I initially hated that idea, but a long layover give us time to make sure we have all our ducks in a row and maybe even nap a little over a long day of travel.
July 4th-13th 2020
$750 (food, materials, etc.) + $793.21 (Airfare) = $1543.21
Evangelism team budget - $3000/20 = $150 per person
Final cost before fundraising and group discounts with remaining budget = $1393.21
