Hi again parents!
Its been a while! I hope you all had wonderful and relaxing breaks with your students. As we get back into the swing of things, it is my hope that we don't lose the momentum that we had before. We are coming into a season of incredible change as a church, but also as a youth group. The addition of new students always has the potential to shake things up. We are planning on changing the way IMPACT looks, and potentially even moving into smaller groups during Sunday school as well. None of this changed our primary focus though, we are merely trying to make sure each student feels heard and cared for individually. Yesterday in Sunday school, we finished our discussion surrounding Jesus being the only way to heaven. We defined religious pluralism and how it harms the "personality" or "personhood" of God. We discussed jealousy, and how we see it differently that God does. At the end, we obviously concluded that Jesus is in fact the ONLY way to the Father. He says so himself! We also gathered at my house last night fr some fellowship time. It is my goal to continue an IMPACT-like activity throughout the summer, with an emphasis on spiritual growth, while also maintaining the fellowship Friday's that we have been having. Speaking of those, the goal behind fellowship Fridays is to provide an environment where students can bring friends to a low pressure, but God fearing community on a night that is usually considered "bad." Your students probably can think of a couple people they know making less than ideal choices on a Friday night, and this is our very practical answer to that problem. We play games (video and board), watch clean movies, and fellowship around fires. This is also a way to strengthen the sense of community that is felt on a Sunday morning when and if a new student is able to attend a fellowship Friday before coming to church. Thanks for being involved with what were doing! I appreciate you all!
